Frequently asked questions.

Can we work together?

If you reside in New York or Pennsylvania, we are able to work together! I obtained my license from Upstate New York in Syracuse, and am now dual licensed in Pennsylvania as well, after moving to Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the Perkasie, PA area!

What is a consultation?

A consultation is a great opportunity for you and a prospective therapist to talk, for free, for usually around 10-15 minutes to discuss what you’re seeking therapy for. It also allows you both to see if you’d be a good therapeutic fit to work together (meaning, is the therapist well versed in working with your needs), and overall getting a vibe of how comfortable you think you’d feel opening up to that therapist. A therapist typically asks questions like: what you’re looking for out of therapy, any goals you may have, history of therapy, why you’re seeking therapy now, and logistical information like payments and scheduling. It also is a time for you to ask any questions you may have!

What happens during an initial session?

The initial session looks different from succeeding sessions, in that we go over all the initial intake and consent/privacy information, as well as discuss your history and what’s bringing you into therapy, goals, etc. This is our first (tele) face-to-face interaction. It is normal to feel nervous and always remember you are in control of what you feel comfortable to answer. It’s important to be honest, but I also recognize that trust needs to be built before disclosing information that may feel difficult for you. Sessions following intake go at your own pace and are based on your goals for yourself.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance up front. I provide my clients a superbill following each session as a receipt to submit to their insurance to receive reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. Clients are also able to utilize their Health Savings Account to pay for sessions.

How do I know if I have out-of-network (OON) benefits?

Often in the corner of your insurance card it will state whether or not you have out-of-network (OON) benefits in your plan. Here is a list of helpful questions I give prospective clients when they call their insurance company to check their benefits. Knowing if you have good OON benefits opens up a lot more access to mental health and medical providers and it’s good information to know. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any additional questions or guidance on this one.

*Does my insurance cover out-of-network providers for mental health therapy?

*Is teletherapy covered as well?

*How much will I get reimbursed?

*Do I need to meet a deductible first before out-of-network costs would be covered?

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and cost $165. Many of my clients are able to utilize their out-of-network (OON) benefits through their insurance. I provide them with a superbill following each session, which can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement! Rates of reimbursement vary depending on insurance coverage. If you’re curious about what your insurance offers, contact them and ask how much they cover for OON mental health teletherapy benefits. See questions listed above for extra guidance.
